a creative unit is the basic organizational entity of the creative. creatives can be comprised of one or two connected creative units. the author of the creative can fully control the content and interactions within the creative unit, whereas the connection between the creative units is defined by the ad format.
standard ad formats offered include the following creative units:

- expandable banner creative: banner unit that expands into an expanded unit
- interstitial creative: a single main unit
